Chastity Device Guide: Setup, Care, and Safety

Welcome and thank you for choosing a chastity device from House Of Chastity.
This guide will help you to unpack, fit, wear, clean, and care for your device safely, with extended guidance on hygiene and risk reduction.
Unpacking and Inspection
  • Your chastity cage has arrived in a sealed packet, this is to ensure that you are the first person that will wear this device.
  • Upon opening, lay out all parts: cage, base rings or adjustable ring, spacers, pins, lock(s), keys, and any optional urethral tube - to check that all parts are accounted for.
  • Inspect for cracks, sharp edges, burrs, or warping. Burrs and sharp edges can be rubbed smooth with sandpaper, but DO NOT use if any damage is present.
  • Rinse all components with warm water and a mild, unscented soap before first use.
  • Dry thoroughly.
Preparing to Wear
  • Choose a warm, private, interruption-free environment. Being relaxed and not aroused makes fitting easier.
  • Gather supplies: body-safe lubricant (see “Lubricants”), a clean towel, and your device.
  • Avoid fitting immediately after exercise, hot showers, or sexual activity, which can cause temporary swelling.
Selecting and Fitting the Base Ring
  • If your device includes multiple base rings, start with the size you believe will be snug but comfortable fit.
  • Positioning:
    • Place the lower portion of the ring behind the scrotum and penis.
    • Angle the glans downward while bringing the ring together to reduce pinching.
  • Fit check:
    • Aim for the smallest ring that is comfortable, secure, and not easily removed.
    • You should be able to slide a fingertip between the ring and skin without pain or discoloration.
    • Watch for numbness, coldness, purple/blue color, or prolonged indentations—these indicate the ring is too tight.
    • If you notice discomfort, swelling, or discoloration of the scrotum, move up one ring size or adjust spacers.
  • New users: limit initial wear to 30–60 minutes, then remove and inspect skin. Gradually extend over several days.

Attaching the Cage
  • Apply a small amount of lubricant to the glans and upper shaft.
  • Gently guide the penis into the cage; use slow, steady pressure, avoiding force.
  • Align and secure the cage to the base ring using the manufacturer’s pins/spacers, then attach your lock.
Locks
  • External padlock: Insert through the lock holes and secure.
  • Plastic (numbered) seals: Useful when avoiding metal detection or for remote verification with a keyholder.
  • Internal locks: Insert and turn the key to engage as designed; avoid over tightening.
  • Safety: Keep an accessible spare key or a documented emergency release plan. Consider an emergency cutting tool if using metal devices.
HT V4, HT V5 and The Mamba Nub Plastic Cages: Fit Correction
It is possible that in its journey to you, that your chastity cage has been exposed to temperature variations that have changed the structure, these changes can include the lock not sliding easily into the device, allowing the key to return or the base ring being misshapen.
  • To correct: Submerge the affected part in hot (not boiling) water for about 2 minutes, reassemble the cage and base ring, the heat should make both parts malleable and allow them to re-shape, dry the device and insert the lock. Test the lock action before wear.
  • Do not submerge locks, keys or any locking mechanisms that could be damaged by water.

Hygiene and Cleaning
  • Routine cleaning: Use mild, unscented soap and warm water, or a sex-toy-specific cleaner. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Frequency:
    • At minimum, rinse daily and perform a more thorough clean every 24–48 hours, especially under rings and inside ventilation slots.
    • Long-term wearers should schedule regular complete removal to clean skin and inspect for irritation (new users daily; experienced users no longer than every few days, or as your body tolerates).
  • Drying: Pat dry with a clean towel and allow air to dry fully to prevent trapped moisture.
  • Do not use household cleaners, bleach, abrasive pads, or alcohol on plastics; these can damage materials and skin.
  • Materials care:
    • Stainless steel/silicone: Generally robust; avoid harsh chemicals.
    • ABS/plastic: Keep away from high heat and solvents.
    • If you have a nickel allergy, avoid nickel-containing metals; choose high-quality stainless steel or biocompatible plastic.
  • After showering we recommend that you apply a silicone-based lubricant to the head of the penis and spread with a cotton swab. This allows the penis to slide easily back down into the cage portion.
Lubricants
  • For general wear: A thin layer of high-quality body-safe lubricant reduces friction. Silicone-based lube lasts longer on skin but may degrade some silicone accessories; check compatibility. Water-based lube is safest with all materials but may require reapplication.
  • Avoid oil-based products under devices; they trap heat and moisture and can irritate skin.

Daily Comfort and Skin Care
  • Check for hotspots: redness, tenderness, chafing. If present, remove the device, clean, allow skin to recover fully before re-wearing.
  • Consider a light, fragrance-free barrier cream on friction points (not inside the urethra).
  • Keep pubic hair trimmed to reduce pulling; avoid shaving immediately before long wear to prevent irritation/ingrowns.
  • Urination: Many find sitting to urinate easier. Rinse or dab with water after to reduce odor and residue.
  • Night erections: Some nighttime discomfort is normal; sharp pain, numbness, or trapped skin is not—unlock and reassess fit.
Safety and Wear-Time Guidelines
  • Start slow: Gradually increase wear from 1–2 hours to half-day, then overnight only after several comfortable days.
  • Don’t ignore warning signs: persistent pain, coldness/numbness, significant swelling, dark discoloration, blisters, open sores, or tingling that doesn’t resolve within minutes after removal.
  • Circulation check: Press the glans briefly—it should blanch and return to normal color within 2 seconds. Sluggish refill suggests tightness or impaired circulation.
  • Hydration and hygiene: Drink water and maintain regular bathroom breaks to prevent UTIs and skin maceration.
  • Health conditions: If you have diabetes, neuropathy, bleeding disorders, active infections, recent genital surgery, severe phimosis, or circulation issues, consult a clinician before use.
Travel and Medical Imaging
  • Airports: Plastic locks avoid metal detectors; always carry a way to remove the device if requested by security.
  • MRI/CT/X-ray: Remove all locks and metal components before imaging. Many facilities will require complete removal.
  • Emergency care: Have a plan and tools for quick removal. In an emergency room, staff may cut the lock or device if needed.

Urethral Tube (Optional Accessory)
  • Important: Urethral insertion carries higher risk (UTIs, urethral trauma). If you choose to use it, follow strict hygiene and stop immediately if you feel pain or resistance.
  • Preparation:
    • Wash hands and genitals thoroughly with unscented soap and water. Consider clean disposable gloves.
    • Clean the tube before and after each use. Stainless steel/silicone may be boiled for 3–5 minutes; plastic tubes usually cannot be boiled—follow manufacturer instructions. Alternatively, use a medical-grade disinfectant compatible with the material, then rinse with sterile water.
    • Use sterile, water-based lubricant specifically suitable for urethral insertion. Avoid silicone, flavored, warming, or numbing lubes for urethral use.
  • Insertion:
    • Only insert when fully flaccid.
    • Find a comfortable position; gently separate the urethral opening.
    • Apply sterile lube to the meatus and tube; insert slowly. Never force past resistance.
    • If you meet resistance, withdraw, re-lubricate, and try again later. Pain, burning, bleeding, or swelling are stop signs—remove immediately.
  • Use and removal:
    • Limit duration, especially at first (minutes, not hours). Do not sleep with a urethral tube in place.
    • After removal, urinate to help flush the urethra. Monitor for burning, urgency, fever, or discharge—seek medical care if these occur.
  • Never share urethral accessories. Consider single-use sterile catheters if you are not confident in sterilization.
Maintenance and Inspection Schedule
  • Daily (or each removal): Thorough clean and dry of device and skin; inspect for irritation or injury.
  • Weekly: Deep clean all parts; check screws, pins, and locks for wear; confirm smooth edges.
  • After any discomfort: Stop wear, address fit/lube issues, and allow full skin recovery before resuming.

Troubleshooting
  • Pinching: Refit while flaccid; ensure skin isn’t trapped between parts; use a touch of lube at pinch points.
  • Chafing: Use a slightly larger ring or different spacer; add a thin barrier (approved silicone sleeve) if compatible.
  • Odor or discharge: Increase cleaning frequency, ensure complete drying, consider breathable underwear, and evaluate for infection if symptoms persist.
  • Swelling of scrotum or glans: Remove immediately; reassess ring size and spacers.
  • Lock not seating or ring misshapen (plastic): Use the hot-water reshaping method described above.
When to Seek Medical Help
  • Severe or increasing pain, marked swelling, dark/purple discoloration, numbness that doesn’t resolve quickly after removal.
  • Signs of infection: fever, chills, foul-smelling discharge, red streaks, or persistent burning with urination.
  • Inability to urinate, or trapped device you cannot safely remove.
Quick Checklist Before Each Wear
  • All parts intact, smooth, and clean
  • Correct ring and spacer chosen
  • Lubricant ready and compatible
  • Emergency key or release plan available
  • Skin healthy with no open sores or ongoing irritation
With careful fitting, good hygiene, and attention to your body’s signals, chastity can be safe and comfortable. If you’re ever unsure, remove the device and reassess fit and care practices before continuing.
